The Dragon's Enchantment page 17

“Orfa, before we leave, please tell me what you have written of the preparation for this grand event.”

“Yes, Your Highness,” The scribe unrolled a long scroll and began to read.

Today King Omni of the Northern Kingdom of Golden World, during the sixth revolution of Golden World around the bright Star Sunyan, seven moons before Summers Eve, has embarked on a journey to make his family. The King is riding his white steed covered with a gold, a red, and a purple silk cloth all with the crown and scepter insignia. King Omni will be attended by two heralds carrying golden horns with red and purple triangle flag insignias and twelve flag bearers—half with purple flags, half with red. A battalion of guards, four large supply flagged wagons with rations, tents, and supplies, too many to count. Behind them are white wooden carriages with golden trim and gold insignias on the doors, each pulled by two white horses. Within them, guides holding gold crowns and scarlet and purple clothing. Each carriage has two grooms aboard and four guards following along with yours truly, all in our finest attire, to attend the grand welcoming of the King’s new family. And in the sky, the colorful dragon Luca will fly with grandeur from above, showing the magnitude and joy of such a monumental occasion.

When she was through, as was her custom, Orfa pit her feather pen in her hat and rolled up her scroll and bowed to the King.

“Very good, Let us proceed,” said King Omni.

Orfa walked to a groom who was holding her horse and helped her to climb on it, while the heralds gave a fanfare on their horns. King Omni started forward and all the company joined him.

Luca took off in flight. He was bewildered at the grandness of the affair. This was the first time he had ever seen such display and was curious to see where all this would lead. They made their way around the castle from the gate and headed south toward Downington Ocean. The large parade traveled until the sun started to set.

In a large meadow, the King raised his arm to the sky, and shouted, “Halt.”

The trumpeters on either side again sounded their horns for the halt. The carriages lined up to the north, and the carts were placed at the four corners of the set up area. Servants and guards fell to work, pulling tents out of the wagons and putting them up. The tents were purple with the Kingdom insignia of gold surrounded with a red outline on each side. Ribbon- like flags of red and purple graced each of the five tent poles. There were four ribbons on the tall center pole and one of each color was on the four outer poles. Others gathered wood for fires and brought out food from the carts. Luca had been flying along, watching the festivities dumbfounded at their meaning. He landed near a grander tent being raised in the center of all the others. It was like the others but much bigger. It had a wing that the others did not have. A red carpet was being put down in the tents doorway, leading though the awing into the tent.
