All royals and
staff made their way round the kingdom walls.
They saw no one along the way though they looked in trees and grasses. They met outside the south wall and beheld
the two royals playing in the sea. The other royals looked at them with
amazement and curiosity while the guides and servants stared in horror. Edith
and Charity ran down to the sea. The
royals and staff followed close behind.
“Prince Adam! What
are you doing?” Edith asked in a mortified voice.
“Princess Eva, I
thought you would know better,” Charity said sadly.
Orfa was so stunned to see them in the sea that
she could not say anything.
“Look
everyone; there is nothing wrong with this water. It is wonderful, come and
see,” exclaimed Prince Adam.
“We’re having
great fun!” said Princess Eva as she splashed Adam.
“Come
out young royals, please! Your father will be so angry,” pleaded Charity.
“That old law
must have been a myth!” Adam turned his arms and held up his hands, “see,” he
laughed, “I’m still me. Come on you
guys,”
The other royal children watched and saw how
wonderful the water seemed. They also heard the spell of the dragon drawing
them. Each heralded by their own name,
“Come, child. Don’t
resist. I am as cool and lovely as I look,” The voice chanted it was a whisper
that pulled at royal.
One by one, the
royals began jumping into the water saying,
“We must rescue
our brother and sister!” or “We wouldn’t want the youngest to drown.”
Their seemingly
acts of nobility were purely excuses to join in the fun. Even those who had
seen the dragon could not resist the cursed waters. Eventually, all of the royal
children entered the sea.
“He
is right!” They all agreed, “The water is wonderful!”
They
all went on playing in the water, splashing and diving for hours, while the
guides and other castle staff stood helplessly at the shore, gasping in horror.
Then
above the playful cheers, a deep voice was heard,
“My children, my children, what have you
done?”
It was King Omni who had just returned from Kingdom
business. The castle staff bowed low and could not look at the king.
