The Dragon's Enchantment page 47

Epilogue
Sir Adam strolled into the castle and gave his sword to the guard who stood there. The guard then took the sword to “Sword Hall,” which was located to the left of the foyer stairway.

Sir Adam smiled and thought, “I remember sneaking out of that door next to the Sword Hall with dear Eva in tow.” Relieved of his sword, Sir Adam turned and started to head toward the armory to take off his armor. In his turning he was surprised to see The Lady Knight Eva standing behind him, dressed in her golden armor. It was sleek and form fitting on her youthful body.

“So, dear brother, how many dragons did you bring home today?” asked Lady Knight Eva in a serious voice.

“Oh, just a dozen or so,” he answered nonchalantly, “How about you?”

“Like you, a dozen or so,.” Lady Eva said in a similar tone. They both started to laugh and put their arms around each other. Sir Adam lifted her up in the air and twirled her around.

“Put me down. You’re the great Sir Adam the dragon Slayer, youngest knight of the realm at the tender age of sixteen. What kind of example will you be to all those new little princes and princess?” she chided.

“They will think this castle is full of love, sweet sister,” said Sir Adam as he put her down. When he did, they smiled into each other’s eyes, laughed, and took each other’s hand as they walked back to the armory to remove their gear.

When they were changed into royal garb, they walked to the dining area for dinner. The dining room had been divided since the old days before royals were dragons. Now there was a separate dining area just for knights.  As the two approached the knight room, young royals started to whisper,

“Isn’t that Sir Adam and Lady Knight Eva?”

They hurried in the knight room and found seats away from staring eyes. They happened to be the only knights there today, but often the room was filled. Servants entered the room immediately with plates of food for the knights.

“I hear you met Luca the other day, Adam,” said Lady Eva after taking two bites and putting down her fork.

“Yes,” said Sir Adam as if it were nothing, not looking up he started to eat from the plate of food placed before him. Before she could say another word, yet more servants came and placed even more dishes of food in front of them and goblets of golden drinks.

Lady Knight Eva waited until they had gone, then added with concern on her face, “I heard you faced him alone. Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
