Chapter 7: The Royals Renewed
When the king had disappeared into the sea, the dragon
children continued sitting on the shore, wondering what was happening to their
father. All the water of the sea had turned black from one end with mud from
the king’s digging. When the King had jumped into the hole, the little dragons sat
and trembled on the shore. When, to their horror, the sea turned to blood, they
all stood up and started screaming,
“He
is dead! Our father is dead!”
This caused more of the older dragons to run
away in tears. The rest of the dragons on shore could not move because of the
tears of their grief.
Then Princess
Eva happened to look up. She stopped crying and pointed. “Look what is
happening!”
They saw the King
shining brightly, standing outside the whirlpool touching the water of the sea
with the amulet. The water calmed and turned color.
“The water has
turned to gold!” said Prince Adam.
“What is that in
father’s hand?” ask Eva puzzled.
“I
believe that is the Dragon’s amulet necklace,” said Orfa as she shielded her
eyes to look out over the sea.
Some of the
dragons that were running away stopped in stride and turned to look at the
water. The sea was turning a golden hue. Tears of joy flowed from those who had
stayed near the water’s edge.
“Look
everyone,” another little dragon said, “Father is coming!”
“Look
at his armor. It is so bright!” said another dragon.
A cheer rose up from the servants
and the dragon children as King Omni came near .The King’s royal armor shown so
bright that it was hard to gaze upon him. The little dragons all gathered
around the King, cheering as he reached the shore.
King Omni raised
his arms as a sign to calm the crowd,
“Stay here, my children. I will be
back soon. Guards, stay here in case the dragon should appear.” Then he headed
up the hill toward the castle.
The
dragons gathered together and sat on the ground, waiting for King Omni. If it
weren’t so tragic, it would seem funny to see all the little dragons sitting on
the ground, tails back, clawed feet flipping back and forward, waiting for the King
to return.
